Earth Love Road Less Traveled for Whimsical Wednesdays

I got so many new goodies today! Woo Hoo! Earth Love paper pack was one of my latest acquisitions and it was perfect for a card for Whimsical Wednesdays.

eath love road
I got the card finished except for the sentiment and had to think hard to find a phrase that was not only something different but was in a fun, whimsical font just right for this paper. I think this one is perfect. The card base is kraft run though my Cuttlebug embossing folder. Then I went over the dots with white snow ink from Papertrey Ink. It looked too perfect (but can’t wait until I want want perfect white dots!) so I ran some cocoa ink around the edge only.

The green twill around the card is a fake out. I put a foam dot right in the middle of the panel where the ribbon would thread through so I slipped a tab of ribbon under the left side and I just put two pieces of angle cut ribbon together, slightly staggered, tied with twine and stuck the edges under the panel. I actually really like how it turned out. It uses way less ribbon and there are no ugly ends on the inside of the card either.

Thanks to Jack for this great sketch. I loved the three circles at the bottom! Thanks Jack. I hope you all played last week because DDSC18the prize from Katie at Paper, Makeup, Stamps will be revealed! I can’t wait to see what it is! Come on  now, Christmas is over, it is time to PLAY! Try out this week’s sketch, it is really fun and different! Think of those circles as letters, buttons, flowers, punched circles of patterned paper! The strip under the main panel can be ribbon, lace or cardstock or DP but you could also substitute some kind of shape or embellishment because they aren’t very long! You know you waaaanna! Upload to your blog or a gallery with DDSC18 and don’t forget to visit Mr Linky at Whimsical Wednesdays with the DIRECT link to your project. HAVE FUN!! When taking a look at the DareDevils blogs, please excuse Cassie, Darla and Heather this week.

Enjoy, Rebecca

Kitty Sympathy

I have noticed that the stamping world has newly acknowledged sympathy sentiments other than the usual ones are sometimes needed. I’ve seen a special set for babies (awww) and now this set for pets.cat sympathy
This card is pretty simple. The kitty was coloured with Copics and if you are wondering why the panel he is stamped on looks a bit uneven, it was white so I sponged it very lightly with Antique Linen Distress ink.

In case you were wondering, no, I not all better yet but on my way and even though I still feel yucky, I am working on my craft show. I am busy looking for card displays (know of anywhere great?) and packaging all my cards. I’ve made more 5x7 than I would have guessed, the only size for which I didn’t buy clear bags for packaging. GRR! Boy that packaging sure adds up. 23c for the 6.25” square envies and almost that much for the clear bags. Adds a lot to the cost right there!

Enjoy, Rebecca

Glow-in-the-Dark Spaceship Card

OK, so you all know by now that I am super busy making things for a craft show. Except for the last few days that is while I have been sick with a nasty cold and sore throat. But as I was practically living in my craft room over the holidays, I have lots of projects to share with you that I made then.

kid spaceship
Super cute right? I wanted this card to be for any occasion so I didn’t put much of a sentiment on it. Is #1 even a sentiment? I suppose so but it could be for anytime; aren’t kids always #1? See all the pale green stars and the circle on the spaceship? They are glow in the dark stickers. And man, are they ever bright! They look brighter than the cardstock circle when they are fresh out of the light. You don’t even need to be in the dark to see it! So cool!!! I am going to include some extra stars in the package when I put them in the clear bags. It took ages not only to punch the tiny stars but also to peel the backings off. Whew! But I think it was so worth it. I also stamped just the top of the spaceship on the sticker paper in Stazon and cut out the circle so it glows too.

Enjoy, Rebecca

Thank You for Midnight Madness

This card is for MMSC34. I really like their sketches but whew, they are always very challenging. This one was a bit easier and I needed a break from making things for my craft sale. I enjoy the work but it is hard to know what people will like, how many to make, what colours, sizes etc. Anyone have any insights, please let me know!

midnight madness thank you
And here is the sketch.

I now kinda wish I had used larger petals so the card would look more balanced but I was working from my hand drawn version of the sketch, not from the one you see here. This one was in my iPhone, but it times out after 3 minutes; I have it set that way, I could change it but I’d forget to change it back and my battery would be gobbled up in no time so I work from my own sketch.

I think the only elements you might not be able to figure out easily are the photo corners. They are from a single Cuttlebug square embossing folder. I cut it diagonally to get two corners from it. Time consuming and fiddly but so pretty. The flower is actually two, one with 4 petals cut out from it and another with 6 petals cut from it. That left two larger pieces, I layered all 4 to get what you see on the card. The petals are sponged with antique linen and worn lipstick Distress inks.

Enjoy, Rebecca

Life Gift Set

I have been so busy making crafts for the craft show I am going to I keep forgetting to blog! I made this set last week sometime with my new Papertrey Life stamp set.

life corallife orangelife pinklife plum
I made matching envelopes for all of the cards like the one shown in the last picture. Then I made a case for the cards. I stamped the same image with Versamark, then added heat n stick powder and three colours of glitter.

life card case

I think I need to jazz this up a wee bit more. I’m just not sure what else to put on it. Anyone have any ideas? The template is one also from PTI, I think it might be one of the free ones.

Enjoy, Rebecca
