Ads Blocking Your View? Pt2

Hi to all my readers. I’m so sorry some of you were bothered by the ads on my site. No one I’ve asked to view my blog locally have had any problems with ads. I’ve checked and I’m not signed up for any ad service. I promise this isn’t my doing! But one reader was kind enough to send me a screen shot of the ads so they were definitely there. (You know who you are, thank you so much!) They were along the sides and bottom of the page though and did not block the text or photos. My hubby is a computer technician; he says if you continue to have issues, perhaps try another browser. Apparently some browsers add advertising to sites that don’t otherwise have any. I think you so much for your continued support. Please do let me know if this isn’t helping.

Thank you, Rebecca

Happy (in) Love

How is everyone enjoying spring? We even have unseasonably warm temps here in Southern Ontario! We should be under 2 feet of snow but instead it’s almost all melted! What!!?? I’m happy but waiting for the other shoe to drop, metaphorically of course. We aren’t expecting precipitation in the form of footwear! {I crack myself up!}

This week our challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges was to use a sentiment as a focal point. That was pretty easy for me as I have lots of large sentiment dies and stamps. I could have made at least 5 cards besides this one, maybe more! Do you have lots of large sentiments? There are quite a few available now. I recently bought this Love die set from Simon Says Stamp; it really holds it’s own on a card front especially with the shadow die cut underneath. I used several layers of white cardstock painted with gold leaving paint on top of a wood veneer shadow. The tiny hearts were cut from the scraps.

The hearts inside the banner aren’t dirty like they appear here. They are covered with Wink of Stella clear shimmer pen; mine was going crazy so I got too much on them. When the shimmer bunches up it can overwhelm the  colour beneath. IRL it looks way more shimmery and pretty! So my title might have gotten you curious. I had intended to say Happy in Love but I just couldn’t get the placement and type of letters for ‘in’ quite right so it had to stay the way it is.

Play along with us! Its a fun and easy challenge with simple rules, make a card using the theme and link it up!

Enjoy, Rebecca

PTI Anniversary Challenge Cards

This past week and a half, PTI has been highlighting stamp sets from the past 10 years. We were challenged to make one card for each year using one of the 5 featured stamp sets or by CASEing one of the cards shown. I’ve got all 10 here, sorry the photography is uninspired but time was short. (I’ve been trying to work on making my photos more interesting.)

Coffee Cup Spinner Card

I LOVE making spinner cards. Some require a lot of detailed and difficult measurements and cuts. They can be worth it but I think the best ones are the simplest. This one requires almost no planning and no measuring!

All you have to do is cut or die cut 2 symmetrical images or shapes, sandwiching a thin cord or two strands of thread in between using strong adhesive. Next cut a window in the front of your patterned paper. Then layer your patterned paper on your cardstock and die cut the cardstock layer too. Use some temporary adhesive or washi tape to hold it together if you need to but don’t permanently adhere it together. Once the window is die cut, take apart the layers. Again using strong adhesive, lay the thread or cord on the cardstock as shown. Lastly, adhere the patterned paper down.

Now for the fun part! Before placing the card in the envelope, twist the image around about 6-8 times. Don’t over twist or your thread might pull from the adhesive and get a bit slack. I’m not usually into the little cutesy faces but the paper was adorable so I figured the coffee cup should match!

Love is Everything

ETA: the pillow box and tag dies are by Papertrey Ink. The lace die is by Creative Expressions.

Man, I wish I could share all of the fun things I’ve been creating lately! Sadly I can’t publish them because they are destined for the Dirty Dozen Design Team over at Splitcoaststampers. Just so you know I’ve not fallen off the face of the earth with so few posts in the last couple months! Well that and being sick most of January. Plus we are dealing with some family issues right now so I’m sorry but fixing the ads on here will have to wait a bit. I promise, I am aware and I’ll take care of it soon. I hope you will stay with me until then! If you find they block the main text and photo area please send me a screen shot at rebeccacell@gmail.com. TIA Now on to today’s project!…

Our theme at Crazy 4 Challenges this week is to make a project using food or dining as inspiration AND we had to use red. What? I really think that counts as two challenges don’t you? {Smile}. But hey, that’s not too hard is it? I  made a pillow box with a see through lace window. Cool right?
I bought a set of new dies; one cuts the little lacey window pieces and there are two separate borders. So you can cut it with edge die 1 or 2, neither or both! (I’ve added a photo below). If  you only use the main die you get little tiny windows. That’s how I cut the white base for the pillow box. Out of the red cardstock I cut all three together to get a double edged lace piece. I laid this over the little windows cut in the white piece and adhered it in place. On the back I adhered an acetate sheet to keep in my candies!

As a last touch, I added a double layer tag using PTI dies stamping them with SSS stamps. I added it to the box with some silver string.

I hope you find time to create with us this week! This sure is an easy one! When I really looked I had way more food themed products than I would ever have imagined so even if you don’t think you have any, take another look. This month’s SSS kit (I even have mine here in Canada!) has donuts and other sweets so if you subscribe or bought one you area golden! Let’s see what you come up with!

Is Advertising Blocking Your View?

I've been recently told that a lot of advertising pops up when you view my site. I'm trying to figure out if this is a problem for anyone else. I have advertising turned off so I don't know why this is happening. Please, PLEASE take the time to leave me a comment describing what you see when you open my page. Or send me a screen shot to rebeccacell@gmail.com. Thank you so much! I looked at the ad info and while I considered turning them on, I decided not to. You can see from the photo, it has a tab for starting advertising (orange button above) which I assume wouldn't show up if I had already signed up. In addition, I do not see any ads when I visit either my mobile site or my desktop one. I look forward to your input!

Winter Kids Card

It’s time for another challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges! One of our member’s daughter is graduating from Vet Tech school so she asked us to make a card with animals on it.

c4c winter seal

I stamped these images on Bristol smooth cardstock. The girl is a separate stamp so I drew in more of the snowy hills and snow dots so she joined the scene. Each part of the image was coloured using my Gansai Tambi water colours. When I painted the sky, I went right over the snow dots. Later I filled them in with a white gel pen. It’s so much easier to do it this way than to try painting around them. I could have used masking fluid but this takes less time because you don’t have to wait for the fluid to dry.

The one kid is coloured with a darker complexion and I just read on Sandy Allnock’s blog that this is Black History Month so she is encouraging us to all colour some people images with different complexions. You can tag images on Instagram with #dailydiversity.

I hope to see your critter card uploaded to the C4C blog. It’s a fun theme and so easy! See you there!

Enjoy, Rebecca
