Make a Wish Canvas

We have a sketch challenge for our Crazy 4 Challenges challenge this week! I took it for a bit of a fun ride so I hope you can still sort of see the sketch.

make a wish canvas

I wanted to use this doll stamp on my card. But she is so big (this is an 8x10” canvas) that I decided against a standard card. Next size up was either a canvas or an art journal page but I prefer to see my work up on the wall so I went with a canvas. I obviously flipped the sketch to portrait orientation. I represented the large rectangle with my doll and the thin strip with the stenciling. On the right the sketch isn’t quite as obviously represented but I thought the words could sub for the smaller rectangle.

The background is covered in Tim Holtz tissue paper adhered with gel medium then painted with acrylic paint. The grass is 6x6” paper from Cosmo Cricket added with more gel medium. I added some script stamping (ranger archival inks) and stenciling with Art Is stencil (TCW) and Prima white crackle paste. I shaded the ground with Big Brush Pens by Faber-Castell. The flowers were PTI buttons glued on with gel medium and the stems drawn on with a Copic marker. I find using it over gel medium works well. The same Copic marker was also used for some airbrushing on the grass and for the quote.

The doll was paper pieced with X-Press It cardstock and Cosmo Cricket paper. I used E55, 57, 59 and 29 for the hair and E00, 21, 11 and 33 for the skin. The dress was shaded with E43 and the red parts are R37, 59 and 89.

Don’t forget to visit the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and join in our challenge this week!

Enjoy, Rebecca
