I’ve got a cool new die to show you today. This birds on a branch die is unique in that it doesn’t cut the shape completely from the paper!
This elegant card is made by die cutting the birds from plain white cardstock. The ends of the branch do not cut leaving the die attached to the base layer as long as it is wide enough. A tiny sliver is cut away from the top and bottom of the die which leaves a bit of space around the die cut. This allows you to layer the die with cardstock underneath which is what I’ve done here. There are a ton of possibilities shown on the video on the By Your Side Die page at Concord & 9th. I highly recommend watching it!
The shiny metal look was achieved by using platinum Embossing powder (hero arts). Instead of tucking the dark grey cardstock (PTI) underneath the birds, I used scratch paper and masked the sides. Then I applied Versamark ink straight from the pad and added the embossing powder. The ‘happy’ is from Waltzingmouse and the ‘anniversary’ is from SSS.
Enjoy, Rebecca
