Animal Just for You Card

Isn't this cute? Funny thing was, my mom bought me Nana’s Kids paper pack and the same day bought a ribbon stack from a totally different brand, actually in the $1 bin. She wasn’t trying to buy matching stuff but they match really well-AWESOME! And they ribbon was still sitting on my desk so I didn’t even have to search for ribbon for this card.

The whole card looks more vibrant IRL so the ribbon matches better. Can you see the glittered stars on this paper? Super cute!! I kinda wish the sentiment was a bit lower but oh, well.

Enjoy, Rebecca

Welcome Baby Boy Card

Another card from Nana’s Kids. Such adorable prints in this pack! This paper is actually on the diagonal but I cut out a section and straightened this. It just suited the card layout better!

The paper and mat were punched with the EK Success Wave punch. Even though my favourite punches are Martha Stewart girlie punches, this punch is quickly becoming a favourite for boy and man cards. Interesting but not girlie. This card is so simple, there really isn’t anything else to say!

Enjoy, Rebecca

Paper:
blue, white CS-SU!, DP-DCWV
Ink: navy-SU!
Stamps: Everything Baby
Accessories: button, ribbon-stash, EK wave punch

Cowboy Howdy for Whimsical Wednesdays!

I couldn’t decide what to do for this week’s challenge. I was sitting there stuck, Jameson decided to help me out. “Why don’t you use the Cowboy set mom?” Sure kiddo, good idea! I’d been making kid and baby cards all afternoon so continuing the theme seemed to work! Smart kid! Thanks Jameson.

I paper pieced this little Sherriff using cardstock and patterned paper. Oh, except the holster, it is pieced with faux suede ribbon! Fun huh? His face is coloured with Copics and the whole panel is flyspecked using a SU! colour spritzer. The stars were cut from a Sizzix die and I used DP rather than cardstock. so when I came up with the button holes idea, I was worried that when I tied the twine, it might cut through the paper. So I reinforced the back with chipboard, just between the holes.

This fabulous sketch is from Nicky this week. I like where he put the sentiment panel! I hope you will all play this week’s sketch challenge. And don’t forget to post your creation using DDCS9 (not 09) and link back to the Whimsical Wednesdays blog so we can all see your work. Be sure to visit all of the DareDevils and see their FABULOUS cards. So much talent on this team!! I have no idea who is or isn’t playing yet because I am writing this Sunday night. I hope all is well with everyone and all can play.

Enjoy, Rebecca

Animal Welcome Baby Card

I added a TON of cards to Etsy a few days ago (some stuff FINALLY sold!!) and realized that I had no baby boy cards and no kid cards! So I set out to make a few today! I used Nana’s Kids by DCWV that I got (through my mom) at Joanne’s in the States for only $10!!

I borrowed the layout from one of Debbie Olson’s recent cards. She totally enabled me as I HAD to have the punch she used after I saw how cute it was! I love the swag look. If you are thinking about buying this punch, be sure to squeeze it much harder than a normal punch to get the embossing to stand out. I know it is hard to see in the picture but it looks great IRL! The colours are totally not what I’d usually use but I think they look good with the paper.

Enjoy, Rebecca

Snowflake Petal Top Gift Box

I needed a hostess gift the other day as we were invited to an Un-Halloween Party for those of us who do not celebrate Halloween; just a fun get together at someone’s home in the boonies where no trick or treaters visit. (We do not celebrate for religious reasons.)I decided to make a cute petal top box. It isn’t so small, it measures 4x4x4” which means it can hold quite a bit. It is easy to make, just follow the directions for Petal Top Box at Clearly iStamp.

I made a couple changes, in the directions, the lower half of the petals are on top of any designer paper and mats on the sides, I didn’t want to cover all of my embossing so I tucked the circles underneath. Actually, I didn’t have much of the paper I used for the petals (and I hate to waste anything!) so I only cut partial circles. After all, I’d already decided to tuck them under my side panels so why not use only part of the circles? I used a half circle plus 1/2” to tuck in. You can see in the following picture the before and after shapes of my petals as I trimmed them slightly to make them look neat under the side panels.

It is hard to see but there is a white metal snowflake brad holding the bow on the box. It has a blue plastic embellishment glued to it, the dots in the middle of the snowflakes are Frosted Lace Stickles. The card is meant to be removed at some point. I know, it is hard to read the silver embossing-note to self: silver embossing is hard to read on anything but really dark paper!! It says “thank you”. The hostess loved it!
