Caregivers Need Caring Too–Heart to Heart Card Drive

There is a card drive on right now to support caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s Disease. As a nurse, I’ve cared for people with Alzheimer's and it isn’t easy. I can’t imagine doing it day and and night, day in and day out. Especially with the emotional turmoil of seeing someone you care about disappear before your very eyes.

Cammie is running a card drive of a different form. Instead of mailing all the cards to one place, you are welcome to make the card and mail it to whomever you wish. If you don’t know anyone to send it to, a suggestion is provided. All you need to do to join is to make the card, post it somewhere and link it up. There are some guidelines for commenting on her blog, My Blog by Cammie, but that is basically it! Click HERE for the direct link to her post.

I hope you will join her in making cards and sending some love to all of those loving people out there doing this tough work. There is an AWESOME prize pack worth over $1000! WOW! You have until Sunday, October 3 at 8PM CST.

Papertrey September Blog Hop Challenge

Another Blog Hop. Woo Hoo! I Love that some companies are now opening up their blog hops to their customers! Yeah!!

This month’s challenge is to show off skills you’ve learned from a fellow stamper. I’ve learned a lot about layouts from Mishie. I’m 99% sure that the layout I copied for this card was hers.

PTI car baby card

I’m afraid the colours look a bit weird here. Sometimes I have the worst time getting the colours to look right. Same set up, same lighting, same background and camera settings; one picture’s colours are perfect, the next isn’t. I find pastels are the hardest to get right.

Everyone who knows me, knows that baby cards are my favourite. I love how this card is soft and pretty but not a typical baby card at all. Whomever thought to add a baby sentiment to this set was a genius! I was very proud that I got the outline, solid stamp and the licence plate stamp all lines up perfectly! The first time I ever used it too.

Another tip I learned from someone on the PTI DT was to line up the headlights when stamping the solid image to get it lines up perfectly; glad I remembered that because it worked so well! no idea where, but I also learned the embossing technique I used for the background out there in blogland. It was perfect to add texture without adding another colour or pattern.

Enjoy, Rebecca

Taylored Expressions Blast From The Past Blog Hop–the Beach!

TE blast blog hop

Welcome to another TE Blog Hop. This is my third, you can see my other projects here Blast from the Past 1 and here Blast from the Past 2.

TE blog hop beach

I love the paper from Imaginisce and the stamps from the Hanging Out: Beach set! I finally remembered to use the sketch specially designed for the hop! I wasn’t sure at first because I had planned to do a ‘scene’ much like last month’s card but I don’t want to seem to be a one trick pony (hee hee) so I changed my plan and came up with this. Still a bit of a ‘scene’ with the tree and lanterns but not a full scene.

I hand cut the scalloped border and the waves that overlap the striped paper. I used a TON of foam dots. The top of the tree is up on 3, the middle and left side on 2 and the bottom on 1. The little punch out on the sign is on 1, the middle lantern is on two and the other lantern is on 1 too. SO many I am classifying this as a 3-D project!!

I hope you enjoyed my project and will come back for more! I have subscription thingies on my sidebar! Now, off you go to check out the rest of the hop!

Enjoy, Rebecca

I hope I haven’t posted this before. I’m pretty sure I worked from a sketch for this one but it was quite a while ago.Maybe Mojo Monday? I sewed some green twill into a flower and the flower in the corner was pierced with an Ornare template and handsewn with regular thread. The pattern envelope paper is from a real vintage pattern.
