Interactive Teacher Gift Card Holder Card

When I saw this sketch for Crazy 4 Challenges, I didn’t have anything special in mind. But then I was looking through some old cards and saw one with a special fold that works perfectly with our sketch.

The way I adhered the panels makes this not only interactive but also a gift card holder! There are basically two mini cards glued to the front of this card!

I will probably add a glue dot just to make sure the gift card doesn’t slip out. If I’d left a wee bit more room (probably have to make a bit larger card) I could have added some glue to the underside of the yellow card, just to the left of the fold line. Then it wouldn’t be able to slip out. But right now it’s a tight fit.

I hope you can play with our sketch this week. It’s very versatile and don’t forget you can change up the shapes or rotate, flip, mirror etc if you wish. Hope to see you over at the challenge blog!

Baby Girl Carriage Card

Since I made a couple boy baby cards last week, I had to balance my stash out with a girl card!

I started with some baby paper but I couldn’t find a pink ink to match so I started looking through some other papers. Wow do I have a lot, LOT of paper! Stuff I’d totally forgotten about. It was like shopping without paying anything! This paper isn’t baby at all but so soft and pretty.

Baby Cards

I was playing along with a couple of challenges and I ended up with two baby cards. The themes and my baby supplies just worked so well together!

This card is for two challenges, first to use a wild animal for and second to use a die to make a stencil for Make It Monday. Of course, this isn’t such a wild looking wild animal is it?? LOL! The hearts in the background were die cut from masking paper and the negative was used as a stencil for sponging the aqua mist and harvest gold inks. I hand cut the same piece of masking paper to sponge in some spring moss for the ground.

For this card, I was inspired by the latest Fusion challenge which combines a sketch and a lovely nautical bedroom image. And Inspired by… which has an inspiration photo which you can see below. I followed the sketch pretty closely for once using some cardstock and October Afternoon Seaside papers to piece this little sailboat. I should have removed the fish die from the rest using snips before I die cut the sail but I didn’t so I pieced in the fishy too then dubbed this boat the ‘Fishy Cracker’! I had a PTI baby set out from the previous card’s sentiment then saw this one which was so perfect for this card! Funny when things like that happen!

White Flower Cards

So, apparently, the flower for this month is Lily of the Valley. So our Crazy 4 Challenges theme this week is white flowers! Right up my alley! I love adding flowers of all kinds to my cards.

This week I went all out for my first card making the flowers myself. It takes a long time to cut, shade, shape and glue them all then add the tiny centers! To start this card, I looked through my flower dies and settled on white lilacs with subtle pink and purple centers. I used Sizzix dies that are retired for the lilac and a cool lace die by Creative Expressions. (Elizabeth Craft now sells similar flower dies.)

The flowers were cut from white cardstock and shaded with Pan Pastels. The flower centers are made with a yellow Paper Pen from Viva Decor. I added some dots to the back panel with a Sizzix embossing folder and used some old SU! ribbon for the bow. All cardstock is by PTI except the green which is from SU!

Next up is a cool interactive card using stamps and dies by PTI. Sadly, I think this set is now in the vault meaning it costs double to buy it! I got it just in time. It resembles the very first instant camera and where the photo would come out, there is a pull tab where you can write or stamp your message. The paper is by MME. The cardstock and leaf die are by PTI as well.

I hope you will also enjoy this challenge. It’s so nice and easy and any style you chose is perfect! I was thinking about using some vellum for a flower so maybe that’s an idea for someone. We, the design team, are always so encouraged to see you play along!

Floral Hello Card

Welcome to another edition of Crazy 4 Challenges. This week we are to use Emerald in honour of the month’s birthstone. I’m not a huge fan but I managed to find some patterned paper with a colour that was almost emerald!

The papers are from one of the Maggie Holmes collections; I am a huge fan of her eclectic style. The green in this paper is a bit brighter and more emerald-ish IRL. The leaves die is by PTI and the flowers by Really Reasonable Ribbon. I used chocolate CS for the hello but darkened it with an E49 Copic marker to match the brown in the paper. It is the same colour IRL. A couple of sequins and a bit of rick rack finished this design.
